Game # 5-Results

The final "qualifying" tournament for the 909 League is complete, and the host gets the victory. David S. brought home the win and ensured that Steve would not pull off a hat trick of tournament wins. Chuck C. finished strong in 2nd with Steve rounding out the top 3. So the table is set for the final tournament. Please refer to the Final Tournament post for all information regarding the final game and click on the league standings link on the right tool bar for past tournament results.

Unfortunately, there is no picture available of David from the night of his victory, so I had to go to the archives and post another picture of him. See below...

Game #4-Results

Top 3:
1) John L.
2) Rudy C.
3) David S.

Game #4 of the 909 Poker League had a total of 14 players show up. There was a lot of action and some great hands were made including a straight flush to the Queen that was made by David S. David made a great comeback from almost being knocked out early, to finishing up 3rd overall. John and Rudy played heads up for about 30 minutes after which John emerged victorious.

All is well in the 909 League witht the exception of the true 909'ers getting spanked by the players from the Trippin Jacks Poker League. Steve and John have combined for 3 wins out of the 4 tournaments played in the 909. We can't let these guys dominate us like this.

Final table pot: $290

Game #3-Results

THE KING HAS BEEN DETHRONED!!!!

Big Dave has a big night! Not only did he win Game 3 of the 909 Poker League, but he busted Steve on the way to his victory. Finally, we have a new winner in the league. Congrats to Big Dave for his win and for knocking out Steve. Dave E. followed closely behind his dad in 2nd, while 909 newcomer Cory rounded out the top 3.
Check the league standings on the right tool bar for complete results and overall point standings.
Free seat at the final tournament (so far)
1) Steve Park (Winner of game 1 and 2)
2) Big Dave. (Winner of game 3)
3) Next best in points without a tournament win (Currently: Kevin Guerin)
Total pot: $220
Thanks to Dave for hosting Game #3.

Game #2-Results

909 Poker League, Game #2: Friday, April 13th @8pm in Corona

Game #2 in Corona had a nice turn out of 18 players. Steve once again proved to be the player to beat by winning game #2. Kevin (the host) finished strong in 2nd, and Matt rounded out the top 3. Rather than focus on the details of his victory, I think we should concentrate on how the rest of us can take this S.O.B out next game. Clearly he is playing at a different level than us. He has won 2/2 in the 909 Poker League tournaments and 3/4 tournaments in the Trippin Jacks Poker League.

Feel free to use this blog as a forum to post comments on Steve's playing style and how we can defeat him. If not, we may have to stare at this for the next 3 tournaments...

Final table pot: $150

Thanks to Kevin for hosting game #2!!

Game #1-Results

909 Poker League Game #1: March 23rd @8pm in Ontario, CA

Steve P. took home 1st place in game #1 of the 909 Poker League. Steve made great hands all night and got down to head-to-head play with a substantial chip lead against Paul D. Paul was making a nice comeback by doubling up twice until Steve finished him off with a King/six in the final hand.

Check the 909 Poker League-Standings link on the right tool bar for your results and points.

Final table pot: $60

There were a total of 12 players that showed up for the first tournament. We anticipate game #2 to have close to double the amount of players. Please post a comment for your RSVP under the game #2 post.

Special thanks to David for providing a great place and hosting the first game!

League Structure:

  • Players will earn points based upon their play in each tourney
  • Points will be assigned in reverse order of finish. For example, in a 20-person tourney, the 1st place finisher would receive 20 points while the first player out receives 1 point.
Bonus points will be distributed to the top three (3) finishers for each tourney in the following manner:

1st place - 5 bonus points

2nd place - 3 bonus points

3rd place - 1 bonus point

  • Overall point totals will be based on each player's top 3 finishes. Therefore, you can miss 2 games and not be "penalized."

  • Each winner of the 5 tournaments will receive a seat at the final table and their buy-in will be covered by the final table pot.

  • $50 buy-in for all others
  • In order for any player - including tournament winners - to sit at the Final Table, they must have contributed a minimum of $15 to the Final Table pool. This can be done by playing in a minimum of 3 games or paying $15 to the league (e.g. if you played in 2 games, you would only owe $5).

  • Payout schedule: same as regular tourneys. 100% of buy-ins and Final Table pot will be paid out. THERE ARE NO RAKES FOR ANY 909 POKER LEAGUE OR FINAL TABLE GAMES. ALL OF THE PLAYERS' BUY-INS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO THE WINNERS PURSUANT TO THE PAYOUT SCHEDULE ABOVE.
